Overview of "Gymnasien" in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf
Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf is the fourth borough of Berlin which covers the western city centre. It is home to the Universität der Künste (Berlin University of Arts), as well as twenty-three primary schools, fifteen secondary schools (seven "Gymnasien" and eight "integrierte Sekundar Schulen"). Mentora Gymnasium

The Mentora Gymnasium is a secondary school in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, founded in 2020. It is located in the same building as the Berlin International University of Applied Sciences and is one of the first schools in Berlin to work in close collaboration with a university. The study focus is on an internationally oriented STEAM based education. Upon graduation, students receive the highest German high school diploma - Abitur.
Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium

Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium, known as Friedrich-Ebert-Oberschule until 2015, was founded in 1906. Admission is in four classes with two different foreign language combinations (English/Spanish and English/French). From grade 8, students can also learn a third foreign language or choose a more natural science orientation in combination with computer science. The school is known for its theatrical performances in English, which have been taking place since 2000.
Goethe-Gymnasium

The Goethe-Gymnasium was founded in 1954 but its history dates back to 1895. It got its name from the former Goethe School, the school type from the former Bismarck Gymnasium, and the building from the Victoria Luisen School. The Goethe-Gymnasium is known for its focus on ancient languages. Students start learning Latin in grade 5 and Greek in grade 7. Students also learn English and French and can choose up to three advanced courses including the previously mentioned languages and biology, chemistry, history, art, mathematics, music, philosophy and physics.
Marie-Curie-Gymnasium

The history of the Marie-Curie-Gymnasium dates back to 1911 when it was known as The Fourth Higher Girls' School (Lyzeum IV). It was not until 1946 that it got the name Marie-Curie-Gymnasium. Students at this school learn English, Latin, French and Italian while bilingual teaching is also offered in German/English. They can also choose to take advanced courses including art, biology, chemistry, geography, history, mathematics, physics and political world studies.
Gottfried-Keller-Gymnasium

The Gottfried-Keller-Gymnasium was founded in 1919 as a secondary school and then expanded into a "Gymnasium" in 1931. It has been a full-day school since the 2010/2011 school year. The educational focus is on foreign languages with the support of the nearby Mierendorff primary school, music with the introduction of the “blowing class” in 2015, and sports in cooperation with the German Handball Federation and the German Basketball Federation. The school is named after the Swiss writer and poet Gottfried Keller.
Schiller-Gymnasium

The Schiller-Gymnasium was founded in 1913. Since 1999, the school has partnered with the State Europe School Berlin (SESB) to provide a dual-language education, with half the subjects being taught in English and half in German. As well as being a SESB school, the Schiller-Gymnasium has a special focus on French meaning that students can choose English or French as a specialised course up until their final exams (Abitur).
Sophie-Charlotte-Gymnasium

The Sophie-Charlotte-Gymnasium was founded in 1857 and is one of the oldest "Gymnasien" in Berlin. Students can choose between regular and bilingual (German-English) lessons, while in grades 7 and 8 students learn intensive English. The school is named after the Prussian Queen Sophie Charlotte of Hanover.
