How to tell if your child is doing well at school?
As with most things in parenting, it is important to remember that every child moves at their own pace. And while there are things you, as parents, can do to help prepare your child for secondary school, it could still take your child a while to settle into the new environment. However, there are still ways to find out how things are going when you are not around. Today we are looking at how you can tell if your child is doing well at school.
They feel motivated
When a child is doing well at school, they tend to be motivated, upbeat and excited to start the school day. They also show confidence, and often act independently, especially when getting ready to leave for school.
They give positive details about their day
You know your child is doing well when they are pumped and animated as they talk about their school day and what they achieved, learned, and experienced. Children are naturally expressive and will often tell you straight up they like their school.
Their body language is an instant giveaway
How your child moves says a lot about them. A child who is happy and doing well at school tends to be carefree, relaxed and at ease in their surroundings. In contrast, when a child is having trouble adjusting, they can sometimes seem withdrawn and be very quiet.
Their grades will show it
If your child is doing well at school, they are more likely to finish their homework and their grades will often show it. Keep in mind that your child may not have A’s in every subject (or "ones" in the German grading system), but they will be performing the best that they can.
Their teacher will tell you if your child is doing well
Schools keep open communication with parents. Moreover, part of a teacher’s job is to ensure their students are doing well and to communicate any positive and negative behaviour to the parents.
Every child will show different indicators that they are doing well at school. If you notice any of the signs above, it means things are great, which is excellent news - both for your child and for you.
